Coupon Codes
A coupon code is an alphanumeric code issued by CardTrader that grants a percentage discount on purchases made through CardTrader Zero. CardTrader issues codes at its own discretion, for example as part of promotional campaigns, through partners and content creators, or automatically to individual users.
Scope of the discount
The discount applies exclusively to products purchased through CardTrader Zero. Products purchased directly from sellers are not discounted, even when they are in the same cart. The discount is calculated on the sum of the prices of the CardTrader Zero products in the cart. Shipping costs and any applicable fees are not discounted and are charged in full.
The discount is entirely borne by CardTrader: the amount paid to sellers for their products is not affected.
Maximum discount
The discount percentage is applied to a maximum of €100 of eligible products, or the equivalent in the user's currency at the exchange rate in force at the time of purchase. Above this threshold the discount is calculated as if the eligible amount were €100. For example, a 5% code applied to €250 of CardTrader Zero products grants a discount of €5.
How to use a code
The code must be entered in the dedicated field of the cart before proceeding to checkout. Codes are not case-sensitive. Only one code can be applied to a cart; entering a new code replaces the previous one. Once applied, the cart and the checkout page show both the original total and the discounted total. If the cart no longer contains CardTrader Zero products, the code is automatically removed.
Validity conditions
A code can be used only if all of the following conditions are met.
They are verified when the code is entered and again when the payment is confirmed:
► The code is used within its validity period. The start and end dates are those stated in the communication through which the code was issued.
► The code has not already been used by the same account. Each account can use a given code only once.
► If the code is single-use, it has not already been used by any account. A single-use code is consumed by the first account that completes a purchase with it.
► If the code is reserved for first purchases, the account has never completed a purchase on CardTrader of any kind.
► If the code is personal, it is used by the account it was issued to. Personal codes cannot be used by any other account.
►The code is not used by the account it is associated with under point "Codes associated with a user account and rewards"
If any of these conditions is no longer met when the payment is confirmed, the purchase is not completed, the code is removed from the cart and the user may complete the purchase without the discount.
Use of the code and subsequent events
A code is considered used when the payment of the purchase is completed. A used code is not restored if the purchase, or part of it, is later cancelled, if products are found to be missing or different from their description upon verification at the CardTrader warehouse, or if a refund is issued for any other reason.
For purchases made with a code, refunds are calculated on the amount actually paid, net of the discount, and not on the full price of the order or of the individual products.
Automatically issued codes
CardTrader may automatically issue personal codes to individual users, for example to users who have not made a purchase for an extended period. These codes are communicated by email and are subject to the discount percentage and validity period stated in that communication, in addition to the conditions in point "Validity Conditions".
Codes associated with a user account and rewards
CardTrader may associate a code with a user account, for example that of a partner or content creator (the "code owner").
Each time another user completes a CardTrader Zero purchase using the code, the code owner accrues a reward equal to a percentage set by CardTrader, of the same amount on which the discount was calculated, and therefore subject to the same €100 threshold.
The reward is converted into the code owner's currency at the exchange rate in force at the time of purchase and is recorded as pending earnings. Pending earnings become payable 30 days after they accrue and are paid according to the procedure described in the Referral & Coupons section of the user's account, which also lists the codes associated with the account together with their discount percentage, reward percentage and validity period.
To receive rewards, the code owner must have complete billing information on their profile: a billing address and, for users whose tax residence is in Italy, a tax identification code. Professional accounts meet this requirement. Code owners cannot use their own codes.
CardTrader's rights
CardTrader may at any time revoke a code or bring forward its expiry date, including in case of suspected misuse. Codes have no monetary value and cannot be converted into wallet credit or cash.
