Ensuring Secure Transactions: Fees and Refunds Managed by CardTrader

Secure payment method

Payments for orders are withheld and handled entirely by CardTrader.
This way we ensure our buyers can purchase from any seller, no matter how experienced, without running any risks.

Sellers receive payments only after the buyers confirm that they have received their orders, therefore CardTrader totally protects buyers in the event of lost, incomplete or non-compliant orders.This system also offers the maximum protection to buyers, because they won’t be subject to disputes and cashbacks: CardTrader will handle these situations.Our system allows users to purchase and sell in total security.



All tracked orders follow these steps. Sellers with less than 10 confirmed orders may only offer tracked shipping methods.

CardTrader strongly recommends using tracked shipping methods. We allow the use of untracked shipping methods if the total value of the items being shipped is below €25.00, in order to allow users to buy cheap items without the shipping cost weighing excessively on the total cost of the order.
On the other hand, our secure payment method system will not be in place for untracked orders, the buyer takes full responsibility for the shipment, and the seller will receive the payment immediately.

We strongly recommend that untracked shipping methods are only selected when purchasing from experienced sellers with a high feedback score.
‍Our constantly vigilant staff will take any and all necessary measures against any suspicious activity by users on the CardTrader platform in order to prevent any form of fraud, abuse, illegal or illicit activity.

Payments on CardTrader may be summarized as follows:

the buyer pays for the order

the payment is withheld by CardTrader

the seller ships the order

the buyer confirms they received the order

the payment is credited to the seller


Wallet and CardTrader credit

Every CardTrader account is connected to a virtual wallet, which you can access by clicking on Profile Wallet
All transactions on CardTrader are recorded on this page.

Your wallet can be recharged in the following ways:

➤ Completing a sale on CardTrader
the credit from any sale on CardTrader will be added to your wallet as soon as the order is completed (received and confirmed)

➤ Wire Transfer
The information required to perform the wire transfer can be found by clicking on the “Deposit” button and selecting “Wire transfer” on the dropdown menu; please pay particular attention to accurately copy the reason for the transaction, otherwise we won’t be able to link your payment to your account and you will have to contact us.

Wire transfers are processed and credited to your wallet by CardTrader within the following business day from when we receive them: these processing times are required even for instant wire transfers. We charge no fees to process deposits made with this method.

➤ Credit card
You can instantly recharge your wallet by clicking on “Deposit” and selecting “Add a payment method” or selecting a credit card you have previously added. Processing fees for recharges made by credit card are 0.35 + 5% of the total amount.


Any sort of refund will be credited to your wallet. If an order you made is cancelled, please contact us if you would like the refund to be returned to your credit card.

Withdrawals may be requested exclusively via wire transfer; the instructions may be found by clicking on the “Withdraw” button on the Wallet page. Withdrawals are generally processed within 2 business days after the request has been sent, however up to 4 business days may occasionally be required. CardTrader does not apply fees on withdrawals.

Payments and processing fees on recharges

Whenever you place an order, any credit available in your wallet is spent before using other payment methods.
If the credit in your wallet is insufficient, your wallet may be recharged at the moment of the payment of the order: the amount recharged will be the difference between the total amount and the available credit, and the 0.35 + 5% processing fees for recharges made by credit card will be regularly applied to this amount.

Order crediting times

Orders on CardTrader are credited at different times depending on the type of order:

➤ Direct order sent with tracked shipping method
The credit is withheld by CardTrader and isn’t transferred to the seller until the buyer verifies and confirms the order.
The buyer has a number of days equal to the maximum shipping time + 17 to confirm that they received the package.
During this period the buyer will receive 3 notification emails, the order will be automatically marked as “Arrived” the day after the third of these emails, and the credit will be unlocked and transferred to the seller.

The protection offered by CardTrader will be active as long as the order isn’t marked as “Arrived”. The buyer must take care to mark the order as “Lost” before the system automatically marks it as “Arrived” and contact our support if there are problems or delays; orders marked as “Lost” may subsequently be marked as “Arrived” to unlock the payment once they have been received.

If the tracking system marks the shipment as delivered and the buyer doesn’t mark it as “Arrived”, the seller must ask them to confirm the order; if the buyer doesn’t confirm or reply within 3 business days the seller may request that the credit is unlocked by contacting CardTrader through the “Report a problem” on the order page.

➤ Direct order sent with untracked shipping method
The seller receives the credit when the order is marked as shipped. Purchases with untracked shipping methods are unavailable for orders above €25, and the CardTrader protection is disabled.

➤ CardTrader Zero order
Credit from CardTrader Zero sales is withheld until the CardTrader warehouse receives the package and the order is verified by our staff. Times may vary depending on the seller’s shipping times.

Once the tracking system marks the shipment as delivered up to 4 business days may be required before the items are made available to the buyers.

Refunds

Refunds are an important aspect of the Cardtrader experience, ensuring fairness and customer satisfaction. Follow the steps outlined in the following paragraphs to ensure you can successfully request a refund if the specified conditions apply to your order.


Refunds on undelivered shipments

To obtain a refund, the buyer must use the “Report a Problem” function on the order page. Once our staff has reviewed and verified the “Undelivered” order, the refund will be issued directly to your wallet. If you would like the refund to be returned directly to the payment method originally used to recharge your wallet, please contact us.

Refunds on orders may be requested after the following times have passed:

➤ Direct order sent with tracked shipping method
CardTrader refunds “undelivered” orders to the buyer. For this type of order, the shipment is considered “undelivered” in the following cases:
a number of days equal to the maximum shipping time + 30 have passed, unless the tracking states the order has been delivered and as long as the tracking hasn’t been updated in the past 10 days
the shipping service officially declared that the package has been lost.

➤ Direct order with untracked shipping method
Purchases with untracked shipping methods are unavailable for orders above €25. The seller receives the credit when the order is marked as shipped. Refunds on undelivered shipments may be requested after 40 days since the order was shipped.

➤ CardTrader Zero order
CardTrader refunds “undelivered” CardTrader Zero orders. For this type of order, the shipment is considered “undelivered” in the following cases:
a number of days equal to the maximum shipping time + 30 have passed, unless the tracking states the order has been delivered and as long as the tracking hasn’t been updated in the past 10 days;
the shipping service officially declared that the package has been lost.

Refunds on non-compliant or missing items in CardTrader Zero orders

Refunds for non-compliant or missing items in CardTrader Zero orders may be requested through our reporting system, by clicking the “Report a Problem” button on the order page, once the order status has been changed from "Sent" to "Arrived".

Please note: you have 30 days from the date your order is received to request a partial refund or return for any missing or incorrect cards.

Refunds are automatically calculated based on the difference between the item ordered and the item received. All refunds are based on the original purchase price.

If you report an issue with a CardTrader Zero order, you can only return non-conforming products after CardTrader approves the request. Once approved, you must ship the products within 10 calendar days following the instructions from CardTrader.

If the products are not shipped within this time, CardTrader may cancel the request and close the report.



Refunds on non-compliant or missing items in CardTrader Zero orders

Refunds are automatically calculated based on the difference between the item ordered and the item received. All refunds are based on the original purchase price.

Before requesting a refund, consult our Card Condition Guide to be sure of the condition of cards you received.

Items with a condition different from the one purchased
If an item’s grading does not match the purchased condition, you will automatically be offered a refund of 10% of the purchase price for each grade of discrepancy, as shown in the table below:

For all other non-conformities (foil, version, language...)
If an item has differences related to edition, language, foil, attributes, or version, our staff will review each case individually and determine the appropriate refund based on the specific issue with the item.

Missing items
If any items are missing, we offer a full refund (regardless of whether “Partial Refund” or “Return” was selected).

Sealed items that are damaged or non-compliant
If sealed items (booster boxes, bundles, sleeves, starter decks, etc.) are damaged or do not match the description, our staff will review each case individually and determine the appropriate return or refund based on the nature and severity of the issue.


➤ All refund requests are evaluated by our staff and the refund value may be adjusted to provide an adequate amount.

➤ Refund requests are typically processed within 2~4 business days. Missing item refund requests may take longer to evaluate.

We do not issue refunds for items that are compliant according to our Condition Guide: any returned item that is considered compliant is added to the user’s CardTrader Zero box and will be shipped with the following shipment.

Missing and non-compliant articles may only be refunded, replacements are not available nor possible.

No refunds are available for discrepancies that are not selectable when listing (for example different Card Prints), regardless of any comments on the actual listings: the CardTrader Zero repurchase system does not take comments into account when repurchasing items that are missing or non-compliant.

Shipping fees are never refunded unless at least 50% of the order is missing or non-compliant.


Check Your Package Before Marking as Arrived

If a shipment appears to be damaged or tampered with upon receipt, it is important to contact us and report the issue before marking the order as "Arrived". To report this issue, just select the "Other" option‍

Additional information regarding CardTrader Zero orders

When items purchased through CardTrader Zero are missing or non-compliant, they are repurchased from a different seller, whenever possible. Repurchases are automatic, and it is not possible to cancel repurchased orders, nor is it possible to retroactively accept an item that has already been verified and deemed non-compliant.

In order to prevent unfair situations, repurchases only happen if the replacement is within the following thresholds:

• For items sold in presale, these thresholds are doubled.

• Any non-compliant article sold for 0,50€ or less will be regularly repurchased, but it will be given to the buyer anyway.

Buyers can set a threshold for non-compliant articles sold for a price between 0.51€ and 20.00€: if they receive a non-compliant article sold within this threshold, they will purchase it anyway at a discounted price for each “level of non-compliance”.

Accept+
The Accept+ system allows you to accept non-compliant articles bought for more than €0.50, and receive a 10% refund for each level of non-compliance. If you decide to activate Accept+ you may select the threshold within which non-compliant items will be accepted. You will be gifted any non-compliant articles bought for €0.50 or less that we receive, but they will be repurchased anyway: you will also receive the copy in the correct conditions without any extra charges. You can still finish your deck in time to play in your tournament.

“Levels of non-compliance” are defined as follows:

1 level of non-compliance (10% discount): from NM to SP, from SP to MP, from MP to PL, different foil, different set, signed or not signed, different language, different edition;

2 levels of non-compliance (20% discount): from NM to MP, from SP to PL;

3 levels of non-compliance (30% discount): from NM to PL.

Articles in Poor (PO) conditions are not included in this process.

Order Cancellation

This section describes the procedures for cancelling orders placed on the CardTrader platform. The rules vary depending on the type of order: direct order, through the CardTrader Zero service, or pre-order (presale). We ask you to read the specific instructions for each case to ensure proper handling of refunds and responsibilities.

Direct Order

When you place a direct order, that is, when you purchase an item from a seller without using the CardTrader Zero service, it is important to know that the management of the order and any disputes primarily rests with the seller. However, CardTrader provides tools to protect the buyer in case of issues or delays.

Orders Not Yet Shipped
If the seller does not mark the order as “Shipped,” after 7 days the “Cancel and Receive Refund” button will automatically appear on the order page. Clicking this button will immediately credit the refund to your CardTrader wallet.

Cancellation Request Within the First 7 Days
Unilateral cancellation of orders is not otherwise allowed. During the first 7 days, before the order is marked as “Shipped,” both the buyer and the seller can request cancellation by clicking “Request Cancellation.” The request will be reviewed by the other party and/or CardTrader staff, who will assess the reasons and decide whether to approve the cancellation. Orders cancelled via request receive an immediate refund to the wallet.

Fees and Refunds to Original Payment Method
Fees related to the payment method are non-refundable, as they refer to the wallet top-up and not the order itself. If you wish the refund to be credited directly to the original payment method used to top up your wallet, please contact us.

Temporary Seller Suspension
When an order is cancelled (automatically or by request), the seller is temporarily suspended and must contact us to reactivate their account before resuming sales. This protects buyers by preventing inactive sellers from receiving new unfulfilled orders.

CardTrader Zero Service

The CardTrader Zero service allows you to purchase items from multiple sellers and receive them in a single shipment. Sellers send the items to CardTrader, which verifies and prepares them before shipping to the final buyer. All communications and the management of any issues are handled by CardTrader.

Due to this procedure, cancellation rules are different:

Management of Orders/Items Not Shipped by Sellers
If a CT Zero order is not shipped by the seller within 4 business days, it will be automatically repurchased from another seller, unless an authorized extension is granted. If repurchasing is not possible, the amount paid will be immediately refunded to your wallet. Please refer to the CardTrader Zero Terms of Service for sellers for further details.

Orders Cannot Be Cancelled
Orders placed through CardTrader Zero cannot be cancelled, as they involve multiple sellers and items are already sent to CardTrader for verification and preparation for delivery to the buyer. To ensure proper service management, cancellations cannot be requested.

Pre-Orders

Pre-orders on the platform constitute a binding agreement between the seller and the buyer, designed to allow users to purchase products before they are available for immediate delivery. When a seller lists an item for pre-order, they commit to honoring the sale and delivering the product within the specified timeframe and according to the established terms. This system allows buyers to reserve rare or upcoming items, ensuring they will receive the purchased product without the risk of missing out due to limited availability or market fluctuations.

Seller Obligations

➤ Pre-Orders Must Match Stock
Both direct sellers and sellers using the Zero service must not list for pre-order any quantities or items they cannot guarantee to have available at the time of shipping and order fulfillment. Each item listed for pre-order is the responsibility of the seller, who must assume all liability for any issues with their supplier, delays, or unavailability of the sold product.

Zero Orders Cannot Be Cancelled
Items sold via pre-order through the Zero service cannot be cancelled under any circumstances. If an item is not shipped at the time of release, it will be automatically repurchased at the seller’s expense for failing to guarantee the availability of the sold item.

Pre-Order Fulfillment
For direct orders, fulfillment occurs when the product is received by the user.
For Zero orders, fulfillment occurs when the item is received and processed by the staff at CardTrader. Payment will then be automatically credited to the user’s wallet.

Buyer Obligations

➤Orders Cannot Be Cancelled
Users cannot cancel pre-orders placed through the Zero service.
For direct orders, a cancellation request may be submitted to the seller, who will decide whether to accept it.

Prohibition of Market Speculation
Market speculation is not allowed: the buyer may not request a refund or cancellation based on market price fluctuations, whether the price increases or decreases between the pre-order date and the delivery date, or after the order has been completed.

Right of Withdrawal

If you decide to exercise your right of withdrawal, you may return the goods within the time frame established by law. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer, and the item must be returned intact, including any accessories and original packaging. Once the goods are received and inspected, the amount paid will be refunded to your wallet.

Refunds between users

Should there be the need to pay an extra or perform a refund, users may send credit to the other party by clicking the “Pay an extra” button. It is not allowed to use the “Pay an extra” button to order additional items: the buyer must place a new order, and the seller must then refund any excess shipping costs for the combined shipment of the two orders.
